Recycling Metal Building Complex

Located in Louisville, Kentucky, this unique recycling metal building facility consists of a 12,820 sf Nucor pre-engineered metal building with a 4,000 sf Ecospan mezzanine. This complex is comprised of three single-slope structures with one lean-to, and is clad with Nucor's DM40 insulated wall panel.  It utilizes methane gas, a natural byproduct of landfills, to create sustainable energy.

Renewable natural gas (RNG), or biomethane, may be used in vehicles powered by compressed natural gas. Using innovative technology, the new facility is capable of converting up to 5,000 cu. ft. of incoming landfill gas per minute into natural gas—enough to fuel 800 of the company’s compressed natural gas collection trucks. This reduces the company’s greenhouse gas emissions by more than 80% when compared to diesel.
