Easley YMCA
YMCA with Clear Span Gymnasium & Suspended Track
The Easley YMCA facility in Easley, South Carolina, showcases a highly customized metal building solution spanning 55,620 sf. The design incorporates five single-slope structures that accommodate distinct functional zones: an office and wellness area, a lobby, a gymnasium with an elevated track, and multiple classrooms.
A key technical highlight is the gymnasium’s suspended walking track, which utilizes nestled portal frames to maximize clear span space and maintain unobstructed views. The exterior features vertically installed Nucor A-Panels that contrast with horizontally placed panels and blue color blocking, adding both structural and visual distinction.
These design choices were critical in delivering the expansive, column-free spaces required for the YMCA’s multi-purpose rooms, gymnasiums, indoor track, and fitness centers. The success of the project hinged on the flexibility and precision of the custom metal building system, which met all spatial and functional requirements.
